As China's largest professional labor protective equipment exhibition, the 100th China International Occupational Safety & Health Goods Expo (CIOSH) was successfully held at Shanghai International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from July 3 to 5, 2020. After more than 50 years of development, CIOSH has become an industry spearhead, leading the scientific and technological development of the labor protective equipment industry in China and has ushered its 100th anniversary this year. CIOSH 2020 is co-organized by China Textile Commerce Association (CTCA) and Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd (MDS). This event attracted a total of 1,035 exhibitors and 21,207 professional visitors (2019: 25,000 visitors). Industry professionals gathered in Shanghai to get the latest market information and product technology.
The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected the global exhibition industry. China has gradually restarted trade events since May. CIOSH organizers together with its partners and government authorities, including Pudong Municipal Commission of Commerce, Pudong Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Shanghai Punan Hospital, and the exhibition venue, SNIEC, have seen the necessary hygiene and protection measures to provide a safe, healthy and reliable exhibition environment. Next to a mandatory mask policy in the exhibition halls, each visitor had received a free set of anti-epidemic package (inclusive of disposal masks, gloves, sanitizer) on site. The organizers also well controlled the visitor flow and the maximum number of people entering the halls. Considering the impact of the pandemic on the exhibition industry, the organizers show a high degree of satisfactory with CIOSH 2020.
CIOSH, the latest member of A+A family, proves to be the industry's lighthouse despite COVID-19 impact
Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and China Textile Commerce Association (CTCA) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in March this year. Both sides will rely on their respective advantages to further strengthen the CIOSH. It was the first time that Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. had been involved in CIOSH 2020.
Mr. Wolfram N. Diener, Chairman of Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., spoke highly of the cooperation: "We believe that the cooperation will support CIOSH to become an important platform for trade and exchange for the global protective equipment producers and users.”
Gathering well-known enterprises from the industry
Due to the outbreak of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, personal protective equipment has received unprecedented attention. CIOSH brings together the top-class exhibitors in the occupational safety and health industry, such as MSA, UVEX, Lakeland, Teijin, Xingyu Gloves, DS safety, CM Chaomei, STRONG Safety & Technology Co., Ltd., East Asia Gloves, SHIMA, etc. On the other hand, CIOSH has set up a special zone under the name of Epidemic Prevention & Response Event (EPRE) for anti-pandemic supplies. Shanghai Gangkai, Intco Medical, Makrite, Rizhao Sanqi, Medicom and other high-quality anti-pandemic supplies enterprises also presented their innovative offerings at this stage.
As an exhibitor, Gianni Li, National Sales Manager of UVEX Safety Co., Ltd. said: “Even if affected by the epidemic, the number and quality of the visitors this year wasn’t inferior to the previous years, which greatly exceeded our expectations. And I’m so delighted to meet some end users on site, which means the whole society begin to realize the importance of PPE.”
Marius Berlemann, General Manager of Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai Co., Ltd commented: “A face-to-face exhibition is not only the fastest way to connect with your market place but also the best way to boost businesses and innovations. The good response of CIOSH 2020 shows the necessity of exhibitions and once again proves that reopening exhibitions is the key to rebuilding economies.”
The first Epidemic Prevention & Response Event (EPRE): An education and training platform related to domestic epidemic prevention and emergency response
Epidemic diseases have brought great harm to the Chinese and global society and economy. However, there is no platform for the exchange of related topics in China. In order to enhance the awareness of all sectors of society on epidemics and to provide effective and efficient solutions to the management and operation of companies in the event of outbreaks and other emergencies, the first Epidemic Prevention & Response Event (EPRE) was held collocated with CIOSH. Four experts, in the fields of medicine and public health as well as business representatives like Dupont, Accenture, have shared epidemic prevention and control measures, tips for selecting epidemic prevention products, and solutions to tracking the history of epidemics from different perspectives this year. The audience were left inspired.
CIOSH 2021 will be held in the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from April 14-16. CTCA and MDS will work together to integrate high-quality resources at home and abroad, present more exciting content for exhibitors and visitors and lead the development of the industry.
